Branch Automotive is a State of Colorado approved, emissions testing facility for diesel vehicles. Branch Automotive offers fast, accurate testing utilizing the newest dynamometer and testing equipment available. We are able to emission test all light-duty vehicles, including all-wheel drives.
If your vehicle fails to meet Colorado State guidelines Branch Automotives’ ASE certified technicians will help you determine the best solution to bring your vehicle into compliance for a passing e-test.
How long does a diesel test take?
Please plan for the emissions test to take approximately 30 minutes with an appointment, maybe a bit longer without an appointment depending on scheduling. We know your time is valuable and will do our best to have you on your way as quickly as possible. Our goal is to have you on the road in 30 minutes or less.
How much does a diesel emission test cost?
A light-duty diesel emissions test is $65. All-wheel drive tests are $80 and heavy-duty tests are $80.
Do you charge for a re-test?
If your diesel vehicle fails the emissions test for excessive opacity and/or due to the physical inspection of required emissions components, we offer a No Charge Retest if you allow us to diagnose and repair the vehicle as determined necessary. Otherwise each re-test will cost $40 for light-duty vehicles (all-wheel and two-wheel drive) and $65 for heavy-duty vehicles after you have the repairs performed at another repair facility.
Do I need an appointment?
Scheduling an appointment is preferred, however, we will do our absolute best to accommodate walk-ins in a timely manner as well.
What are you testing?
The purpose of the diesel emissions test is to measure the opacity, or smoke density, output from the tailpipe, as well as to inspect for the presence of all required emissions components.
Why do I need to be tested?
The state of Colorado requires diesel vehicles that are more than four model years old to be emissions tested for compliance.
How often do I need to be tested?
Diesel vehicles more than four model years old and up to 10 model years old require diesel emission testing every two years, and vehicles older than 10 years require testing every year.
What do I need to bring to the test?
Having your emissions testing notice with you will help to expedite the write up process, however, all we really need is you and your diesel vehicle.
Why do vehicles fail a diesel emissions test?
Usually vehicles fail for one of three reasons: Check Engine Light is illuminated, opacity levels exceed the state mandated maximum levels, or the vehicle is missing a factory installed emissions component.
What can I do if I fail a diesel test?
There are many reasons why the check engine light can illuminate and the exhaust opacity can reach excessive levels. Should that occur with your vehicle, we specialize in diagnostics and diesel repair. We can assist you in bringing the vehicle back into compliance. Diesel powered vehicles may qualify for a waiver if repairs totaling $750 for light duty vehicles or $1,500 for heavy duty vehicles are performed to address a failing diesel emission test and the vehicle fails a confirmatory test.
